PACHA is an touch-responsive-sound installation of plants and soil that tells stories of ecological symbiosis, ancestral knowledge and reimagined futures. It is a decolonial response to the climate crisis designed to rekindle our bond with nature in an explorative and playful way fusing technology and the natural world.

PACHA has been co-made with people from the Global Majority from Haringey through a series of explorative workshops at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre. The workshops included urban herbal walks, creative writing, community remapping, discussions and future storytelling. The workshops were a place of exploration, solidarity, creative solutions and important questions. Some of the participants’ statements, poetry, stories, insights, and embodied knowledge have been shared within the installation. A larger body of recordings will be available in an artistic digital archive on pachapeople.com which will act as a legacy celebrating these vital contributions.

The Experience:

PACHA is divided into 2 zones, with a one-person capacity in the first zone and up to four-person capacity in the fourth zone. The experience lasts approx 15 - 20minutes.

The installation is wheelchair accessible and has captioning and audio description available. We advise those with a pacemaker not to use the installation. For any questions regarding access please email andrea@pachapeople.com.
